You want to try a fade, but you are not sure how much hair you want removed above the ears. Before visiting HIRO GINZA PREMIUM BARBER Taipei, collect front and side reference photos and divide your preferences into four notes. Location, the areas you want to keep and your usual routine give the consultation more detail than “low” or “natural” alone.

Company-provided hairstyle reference. Use it to discuss shape and proportions; it does not identify a technique, a stylist or a service performed at the Taipei shop.
1. Where should the shorter area stop?
Use the mirror to point out areas beside the ears, at the temples and at the back that you want tidied, along with areas where you want to retain fullness. Check the actual positions rather than relying only on labels such as low fade or high fade.
If you like the hair around the ear in a photo but do not want the area above it to look as close, say: “I like this section, but please keep more hair above here.” Look at the overall shape from both the front and the side.
2. How short can the shortest section be?
Once the area is clear, discuss its shortest length. You do not need to guess a millimetre measurement. Explain whether visible scalp concerns you and ask the barber to confirm the plan before cutting.
Lighting can change how dark or light the same haircut looks in a photograph. Do not assume that the amount of scalp visible in a reference will look identical on you.
3. What should stay on top and at the front?
Say whether you want to wear the fringe down, up or to one side. Point out any current length you want to keep, then discuss the balance between the shorter sides and the top.
A photograph alone cannot tell you which services created its bends, colour or shine. If the feature you want is curl or colour, ask separately about the required menu, price and time.
4. What will you actually do tomorrow morning?
Tell us whether you blow-dry, use styling products or have workplace rules about hair. “I dry my hair, but I do not want to style the fringe upwards every day” is useful information.
At the end of the visit, ask about the styling direction and note the details you liked. For your next consultation, photos taken just after the cut and once it has grown can help explain what you want to keep or change.
Save these four lines before your visit
Areas to shorten / fullness to keep: ____
Shortest length preference / thoughts on visible scalp: ____
Length and direction to retain on top and at the front: ____
Usual drying, styling products and workplace requirements: ____
For example: “Tidy around my ears, but keep fullness above the sides. Please confirm the shortest part first. I want to be able to wear my fringe down; I normally only dry my hair.” Use this as a starting point for agreeing on the shape in person.
A haircut and grooming in a private room
Every seat at the Taipei shop is in a private room. Alongside your haircut consultation, consider the facial shave that is part of a Japanese barber visit. The men’s full course includes a haircut, shampoo, facial shaving and brow trimming, facial exfoliation, a face mask, a shoulder and neck massage, and blow-drying and styling.
The first-visit price is NT$2,520, the regular price is NT$2,800, and the estimated duration is about 60 minutes. First-time customers requesting Ryosuke Ito pay an additional NT$500 stylist-request fee. Confirm your fade details, any extra services and the total time when booking. Prices are in New Taiwan dollars and describe the full course, rather than an individual quote for the photographed style.
