A close selfie can exaggerate the part of the hairstyle nearest the camera. The front may look larger and the back smaller than they do at a normal viewing distance. That makes the photograph useful for a detail, but less reliable as the sole guide to overall proportions.
Bring another image taken farther away if you have one, ideally with the head upright. Tell the barber which feature you actually like: the fringe texture, the side shape or the height. You do not need a perfect photographic record. You need enough context to separate the hairstyle itself from the perspective created by the camera.
