Japanese vs Western barbering is sometimes described as a choice between scissors and clippers. In practice, both tools are used by barbers across different countries, and the choice depends on the haircut rather than nationality alone.
Clippers can create shorter lengths and defined transitions. Scissors can shape longer sections and adjust the distribution of weight. A haircut may combine both. What matters to the guest is how the tools are used to create the agreed result and how the hair behaves afterward.
HIROGINZA PREMIUM BARBER SYDNEY DYMOCKS plans to bring techniques developed through our work in Japan to a diverse Sydney clientele. We will discuss length, shape and maintenance before recommending an approach. A national label is a starting point for learning about a service, but it cannot tell you everything about an individual barber’s skill or style.
Opening is planned for 28 October 2026, subject to construction and administrative procedures.
Our address: Suite 5, Level 1, Dymocks Building, 428 George Street, Sydney NSW.
